A Bittersweet Arrival...

Well, my mini Samantha arrived today!!! :) I looked through the bubble wrap, and I think my heart stopped. She is gorgeous!!! Like, the prettiest mini doll ever! Prestine condition... or so I thought.

Background: We've been having major wind/rain storms where we live, like day off of school because of power loss storms.

O.K., so with all this weather if you package something in paper, it's gonna get wet, hence the slightly wet package that Mini Sam arrived in. So, she smells a little...musty? I don't know what it's called, but she smells bad, to get to the point. I sprang into action! Off the wig went, into the bag the now bald body went (With baking soda), and onto a rag the clothes and old wig went to be febreezed. I think she'll be fine tomorrow though, it really wasn't THAT bad.

Here is the gorgeous Sam, soon to be Shirley Temple: (Sorry, flash made her eyes weird, she's even prettier in person! :) )

I've bought the mini doll!!!!

Yep, I got it! for $13.00 with shipping, not bad! It's a mini glass eyed Samantha doll , with complete outfit! (Most importantly, shoes!) After waiting an extra six days because stupid me just HAD to bid on two glass eyed mini dolls that's auction ended in six days. Of course, I was outbid to a price that was too high for me at the last second...So, I got a BIN Sam right away! Now, the waiting.... good thing hand sewing calms the nerves... and I get to go to a train show today! The doll may or may not get here by Thanksgiving, we will see. Bye for now! I'm off to sew some more of that robe!

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Hello everyone! Today I worked on sewing a robe for Shirley to get ready in. It is white, and will tie with a red ribbon. I don't know how I'll manage to create the actual ST dresses, but it will happen one day. So, in preparation, what dresses should I make? I'm starting with staple items, so the stand up and cheer dress :(below) A Heidi dress:

What else? See my second post for what I'm using to stand for A Little Princess for now. Any Ideas? Any outfit in her movies that you like would work as well. Thanks everyone!

The wig!

This wig came from an ebay seller (at $6.24 w/ shipping) a couple of days ago! Yeah, I need the doll to do anything with it, but it's still exciting! Here>
you see it on my Samantha, the mini model of the month it would seem... So, evidently it will look better once I have the glass eyed mini AG I am looking at/for and it's glued on, and my fingers won;t be holding it on and such... but this is the wig,and it's better than seeing it as a hopeless mop just sitting there.

Now, something that happened today was that I found a beautiful barbie dress that looks like it's from A Little Princess!
Yay! It's supposed to be short on Barbie, so it's a beautiful length on the minis! O.k, ok, it doesn't look anything like any of her dresses, because it's long... well so what! It's pretty! It does remind me of her dresses though,
so I'm keeping it. :)

Welcome!

Hello everyone! I'm Ms. B, and now through Christmas, (44 days left by the way), I will be making a 6 to 6.5" Shirley Temple doll! Why does it need to be so small? Well, first of all it's for a doll, my little princess Annie Belle. You can read her blog to find out more about her, but here is some basic info:
She is an 18" American Girl doll
Yes, I do refer to her as a person, not an object
She "lives" in the 1930's (1937) in L.A., near the broadway theater district, and of course loves Shirley Temple!

So, her ST doll will need to be about 6.5", so to her the doll will be 18". The best dolls that are the perfect size are.... AG mini dolls! They were made to be the perfect scale for the girls, and they are so cute! So far, I have:

A curly golden brown wig!
A cardboard house!

I don't have:
The DOLL :O
ST clothing, well I have one thing...

So, as this is the introductory post, I'll put some more posts on the wig , house, and Barbie dress I found... Bye for now! Hope you enjoy reading about my ST Holiday adventure!
